24.10.2005: The Year of Russia in Armenia

On Friday the state visit of the Samara oblast delegation headed by the Governor Konstantin Titov to the Republic of Armenia came to an end.

We remind that K. Titov is a member of the RF President’s Committee on conducting a Year of Russia in Armenia and a Year of Armenia in the RF.

In 2005 the RF President Vladimir Putin and the President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan took a decision to conduct this year Days of the RF in Armenia and next year – Days of Armenia in Russia. This visit was a part of the governmental resolution. During the visit an official meeting between the Samara oblast Governor K. Titov and the President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan was held which outlined further ways of cooperation between Armenia and the Samara oblast. Possibilities of interaction in the fields of chemical industry and cable production, transportation and logistics were discussed. During the meeting President R. Kocharyan pointed that the Samara oblast is famous not only in Russia but also abroad for the fact that all successful reforms start in this region and Armenia wanted to use accumulated experience. Ways of cooperation were also discussed during the meeting of K. Titov with the Chairman of the National Assembly Artur Bagdasaryan who expressed his desire to immediately start with specific programs. To K. Titov’s opinion, the work should start from cultural and scientific exchange that would permit to come to know each other better and consequently to develop further economic and cultural ties more efficiently.

The acquaintance started from the exhibition that presented products of 24 Samara enterprises. This number included “Novatek”, “Aviakor-Furniture”, “Metallist”, Zhigulyovsky bakery, etc. Exhibition visitors marked out not only high quality of products but also the fact that this was the first region that presented specific enterprises with which contracts could be signed immediately. And two contracts were signed right at the exhibition.

An official opening ceremony of Samara oblast Culture Days in Armenia was held too. A warm reception was given by the residents of the Republic to Samara artistes including the Opera and Ballet House soloist M. Gubsky and A. Antonov, famous accordionist S. Voitenko, jazz band under the baton of G. Fain, quartet of Samara Philharmonic Hall.

During the trip a meeting was held between K. Titov and the Catholicos of all Armenians, Supreme Patriarch Garegin the Second during which they discussed strengthening of the Orthodox values in spiritual life of both nations. The Governor of the Samara oblast told about rehabilitation of temples in the province, about peaceful coexistence of representatives of different confessions. Garegin the Second blessed K. Titov for further assistance to church and care for wellbeing of the oblast population.

During the trip after visiting Araratskaya and Gegarkunikskaya regions of Armenia two protocols were signed.

In addition, Head of the Department on Physical Culture and Sports, Two-Times Olympic Champion Oleg Saitov had a sparring match with Armenian boxers and a meeting with members of the National Team.

Drawing conclusions to the visit the Governor of the Samara oblast Konstantin Titov noted that in Armenia Samara delegation received full mutual understanding and support. The President of the Republic of Armenia as well as Samara oblast leaders is interested in business to be working and results to be seen – creation of high qualification jobs, high salaries.

- I think it would be right if the two presidents – Vladimir Putin and Robert Kocharyan – decide in favor of transferring friendly relations from the top level to the level of constituents of the Russian Federation, to the level of municipal government, to the level of common people. This always yields peculiar results, - underlined the Governor.
